By J.J. Smith. The death of 2008 Rockwall High School graduate Alexis Lancaster was an “accident, caused by the combined effects of heroin, alprazolam and diphenhydramine,” according to the official toxicology report just released by the Dallas County Coroner’s office.

The report was completed Dec. 8, according to a spokesperson with the Coroner’s Office.

According to Dallas Police, there will be no further investigation into her still “unexplained death,” since it was ruled an accident by the medical examiner.

Miss Lancaster’s body was found in her Dallas apartment the morning of Oct. 24  by Dallas police, after an unidentified male called 911 and reported her as unresponsive.

According to the 911 operator’s incident detail report, the male caller using an AT&T cell phone said at 10:21 am that he “stumbled into her apartment, walked in to check on her and said she was unresponsive.”

“Caller said he was going to leave. He was scared and didn’t want to be there,” the report also read.

The 911 operator then immediately notified police about an “unconscious” person.Â

It is still unknown who the male was.

Sources close to Miss Lancaster, who asked not to be identified, said that she had taken Xanax “bars” that evening and perhaps another drug, which the coroner’s report has now confirmed. They also said she had spent at least part of the previous Friday evening with a friend named Ben.  Â

Xanax bars are long, skinny, yellow and/or white pills containing 2mg of alprazolam. Alprazolam is available with a prescription under the brand names Xanax and Niravam. It is used to treat anxiety disorders, panic disorders, and anxiety caused by depression, according to Drugs.com.

It is also a new “in” and cheap recreational drug that is usually swallowed or crushed and snorted, according to the Urban Dictionary. Due to its short half-life (three hours) it is one of the more addictive benzos. Withdrawal effects include psychosis, epileptic-type seizures, coma, and even death, the Dictionary explains.

Diphenhydramine is an over-the-counter antihistamine sold under the brand name Benadryl. It is used to treat sneezing, runny nose, itching, watery eyes, hives, rashes, itching and other symptoms of allergies and the common cold. It is also used as a sedative, according to Medicine.net:

“Diphenhydramine adds to (exaggerates) the sedating effects of alcohol and other drugs that can cause sedation such as the benzodiazepine class of anti-anxiety drugs [for example, diazepam (Valium), lorazepam (Ativan), clonazepam (Klonopin), alprazolam (Xanax)],” the report reads.

Miss Lancaster was an aspiring actress and was taking acting classes at the time of her death. She was the only daughter of Leah Rodriguez Gentzler, who is the president of Dallas-based Gentzler Electrical Services.Â

“She was loved by many and had a heart of gold,” her mother said. “She volunteered for the Rockwall Angel League and visited the nursing homes in town, as well. She loved cats and was always bringing home strays. These are just a few sweet things about her and there are plenty more.”

An additional article will be published in the near future remembering Miss Lancaster’s life and her many accomplishments.
