It’s called electronic pickpocketing and security expert Walt Augustinowicz says relatively new technology designed to make your purchases more convenient could put your credit card number at risk.

In a mall in New York City, Augustinowicz showed INSIDE EDITION’s Paul Boyd how it can happen. In a matter of seconds, he effortlessly pickpockets four unsuspecting shoppers without ever laying a finger on their purses or wallets.

(NBC5-TV) Rockwall – Rockwall police are on the lookout for an online predator who could be preying on students in the middle and high schools using Facebook.

Someone using the name “Jenny Klasp” is sending inappropriate and explicit messages on the social-networking site, police said.

Police said a middle school student heard a man’s voice and quickly hung up when he tried calling the number tied to the account.

Rockwall County could soon see all-electronic ballots

(NBC5TV News) ROCKWALL – The way people vote in Rockwall County could be changing as the county looks to advance with technology.

Right now, half of the county still uses paper ballots as their preferred method of voting, but the county has assembled a committee to explore the possibility of going all electronic.

“It’s about change,” said Glenda Denton, of Rockwall County Elections. “Our county is about half paper, half electronic-type balloting, and with technology changes and what’s coming in the future, the judge wants to explore that opportunity.”

Rockwall Council tables animal shelter euthanasia protocol for 60 days

ROCKWALL – The Rockwall City Council decided last night to table their discussion for 60 days before determining a euthanasia protocol for dogs and cats in the Rockwall Animal Shelter in order to explore the many issues which exist after the Shelter was recently shut down due to an animal health problem.

Rockwall Pets volunteer and animal advocate Mike Kitkoski explains why it was shut down and states taking 60 days to explore the situation before making any final decisions is probably a good idea.

The Council recently made news by approving making the Rockwall facility a “No-Kill” Shelter, meaning no more than 10% of animals will be euthanized.

History buffs fighting to save old building

ROCKWALL – In Rockwall County, there’s a fight to preserve a piece of history.

The county has decided to sell the old Rockwall County Annex Building, leaving the fate of the 94-year-old building in the hands of the buyer.

Rockwall Historian Sherri Fowler said the annex is valuable piece of property and that it’s been a fixture for seven generations of her family.

Heath Coach Moss, players discuss Hawks 4-0 record

HEATH – Rockwall-Heath head football coach Mickey Moss, tight end Tyler McKay and defensive back Dru Mayfield discuss last week’s 19-14 dramatic comeback win over Richardson Pearce, plus this Friday night’s home game against McKinney.

Coach Moss explains that he expected the Hawks to have a strong defense this year and expects the offense to begin to score more points soon.

He credits the team for finding whatever ways are necessary to win their games and says they are focused on improving each week so they can qualify for and get ready for the playoffs.

ROCKWALL – Rockwall Police Chief Mark Moeller talks about some awards that the Rockwall Police Department recently received, plus discusses some recent crime issues at the monthly Rockwall Chamber of Commerce meeting Sept. 21 at the new lakeside Allure Restaurant, which recently opened to the public in the Chandler’s Landing sub-division.

Chamber Director Margie Hooper said the event attracted the largest monthly luncheon turn-out in Chamber history.
