Early voting totals very low for May 11 local elections

ROCKWALL – Early voting for the May 11 local school board and city elections ended Tuesday with only1,167 votes cast, or 2.42 percent of the 48,196 voters registered across Rockwall County.

According to Rockwall County Elections Administrator Glenda Denton, early voting normally makes up about 50-60 percent of the total vote.

Five candidates are currently competing for Places 4 and 5 on the Rockwall ISD Board of  Trustees, three candidates for Place 6 on the Royse City ISD Board, and four candidates for Places 1 and 3 on the Fate City Council.

With no City of Rockwall or Heath elections, turnout was not expected to be high by local officials.
