HEATH – Last weekend couldn’t have gone much better for the 2012 4A Texas State baseball champions as the Heath Hawks opened Class 5A play-off action by scoring 27 runs in two games and Ryan Kinney pitched a no-hitter, all against Lakeview Centennial.
Kinney struck out eight and walked just one batter Thursday, as the Hawks scored 17 runs in the first three innings, demolishing Centennial, 17-0. The attack was led by a three-run triple by Logan Kinney, a two-run double and RBI single by Kelly Dorsett and two-run double by Tyler Pinkston. Dylan Brown also had three hits, a single, double and triple.
Friday, Connor Roth and Tyler Ivey combined for a two-hitter and Pinkston went 3-for-3 in leading the Hawks to a 10-0 win. The Hawks scored five runs in the fourth on an RBI single by RJ Williams, a two-run single by Clayton Rasbeary, an RBI single by Pinkston, and an RBI single by Logan Kinney.
Playoff action will continue this weekend as Heath plays at Allen Friday at 7:30 pm, then comes home to play Allen at Heath at Noon. If a third game is needed, it will be played at Heath, starting 45 minutes after the end of game 2.
