Mesquite Horn’s Rodney Webb expected to be named new Rockwall football coach today
ROCKWALL – Mesquite Horn’s football coach for the past five seasons, Rodney Webb, is expected to be named Rockwall’s new football coach at a specially called RISD school board meeting this morning.

He will replace former Coach and Athletic Director Scott Smith, who is now an assistant coach at Houston Baptist.
Horn has reached the playoffs every year under Webb, losing to Skyline in the second round last season. In 2010, Horn advanced to the Class 5A Division II state quarterfinals.
Prior to coaching at Horn, Webb served as Head Football Coach and Athletic Director in Royse City for five years, where had a 44-16 record with four playoff appearances, including a trip to the 3A state semifinals in 2004.
Coach Webb played college football at Tarleton State University, where he earned All-American and Team MVP honors in 1989. He was inducted into the Tarleton Hall of Fame in 2007.
Coach Webb is currently a resident of Rockwall with his wife, Fran, who is a teacher at Rockwall High School, and their daughter, who attends school there.
Horn and Rockwall moved into District 12-5A last season with Horn defeating the Yellowjackets, 45-21. They’ll meet again in the upcoming 2013 season. Rockwall went 2-8 last season.
