Too many Skeeters for Rockwall-Heath; Hawks lose 35-14
ROCKWALL – Nursing a 7-0 halftime lead, the Mesquite Skeeters scored four touchdowns on their first four possessions of the second half and rolled over Rockwall-Heath, 35-14, Friday night at Wilkerson-Sanders Stadium.
The Skeeters (2-0, 6-0) performance showed why they are favored to win District 12-5A.
Jordan Bracy returned the opening kickoff of the second half 92 yards for a TD. Quarterback Alex Cooper scored on a four-yard run; and Tyson Reed raced 64 yards for a third Skeeters TD in the third quarter.
In the fourth quarter, Cooper broke loose for a 70-yard TD.
Heath scored twice in the third quarter on a two-yard run by Alex Solis and a 27-yard pass from Chase Schultz to Shyon Motlagh.
Mesquite outgained the Hawks in total offense, 397 yards to 337. Cooper completed 20 of 28 passes for 250 yards.
Heath QB Chase Schultz connected on 23 of 44 passes for 265 yards. R.J. Williams caught 9 passes for 114 yards and Motlaugh 6 passes for 120 yards.
The Hawks will travel to Longview to play next Friday night at 7:30 pm.
