Mesquite Horn scores 3 TDs in 4th quarter, gores Rockwall, 45-21
MESQUITE – Mesquite Horn broke open a close game by scoring three long touchdowns in the fourth quarter from 21, 36 and 63 yards out and handed the Rockwall Yellowjackets their fourth straight loss, 45-21, last night at Handby Stadium.
Ahead just 24-21 at the end of the third quarter, Horn (2-0, 4-2) running back Treyvon Marsh scored his third TD on a 21-yard run, Brian O’Bannon caught a 36-yard TD pass from Destri White and Marsh broke lose for a final 63-yard TD.
Marsh rushed for 243 yards on 23 carries and 4 TDs, as Horn outgained the Yellowjackets, 503 yards to 233.
Rockwall (0-2, 1-5) was never able to mount much of an offensive attack, with two of their TDs coming on defensive plays. Chris Hinkley recovered a blocked punt in the end zone about 10 minutes into the third quarter and Barron Black intercepted a pass and returned it 60 yards just five minutes later.
Running back Zach Berryman rushed 96 yards on 18 carries and QB Dylan Campman ran 75 yards on 11 carries. Chris Warren was held to just 20 yards on 5 carries.
Campman completed just 13 of 28 passes for 90 yards and an interception. Xavier Castille had a big night, catching 10 passes for 82 yards.
