Forney blasts Royse City in season opener, 31-6
FORNEY – Scoring at least one touchdown in each quarter, the Forney Jackrabbits blasted the Royse City Bulldogs, 31-6, in the season opener for both teams last night.
Forney’s ferocious defense held the Bulldogs to only 104 yards total offense and only 35 yards rushing on 32 attempts, while the Jackrabbits amassed 401 yards total offense.
Quarterback Clayton Chadwick ran for 161 yards on 17 carries and one 9-yard TD and passed for 75 yards on 5 of 8 passes for 75 yards and another TD.
The Bulldogs finally scored with three minutes left in the game as Jackson Watts connected with Jake Glisch on a 24-yard pass. The kick failed.
Watts completed 10 of 17 passes for 66 yards and one interception, but was sacked several times and lost 21 yards on 7 carries. Austin Vandiver caught four passes for 25 yards.
Royse City will now prepare for its home opener Sept. 7 at 7:30 pm vs North Forney.
