Girls’ volleyball season begins today at 3 County high schools

ROCKWALL – The high school girls’ volleyball season begins today across Rockwall County at 5 pm, when Rockwall hosts Frisco Liberty, Rockwall-Heath hosts Sachse and Royse City hosts Pine Tree/Richardson.

Rockwall will also host Forney at 7 pm.

Rockwall and Rockwall-Heath will participate in the Garland Varsity Tournament Aug. 17-18 against teams and at times to be announced.

Royse City will play in the Allen Varsity Tournament Aug. 17-18 against teams and at times to be announced.

Last season, Heath (42-6) spiked its way into the Class 4A Region II Final but lost in three straight matches to State Runner-Up Richardson-Pearce (26-9), which eventually lost the 2012 State Championship match to Austin Lake Travis, 3-0.

Rockwall finished 14-14, in fourth place in District 10-4A action.

Royse City finished a  fantastic 31-8 season as the undefeated champions of District 13-4A.
