Candidates Cruz, Craddick, Parker, Devine speaking in Rockwall June 30
ROCKWALL – A conservative Republican candidate forum, featuring statewide office seekers Ted Cruz (shown above), Christi Craddick, Greg Parker and John Devine, will be held June 30, at 1 pm, at the Rockwall County Library, 1215 Yellowjacket Ln.
All four qualified in the May 29 Texas GOP Primary Election to run in the July 31 Run-off Election since no one in these races won over 50 percent of the vote.
Attorney and former Texas Solicitor General Cruz is running for the US Senate seat to replace retiring US Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison. He finished second with 32 percent of the vote against Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst, who received 47 percent.
Midland attorney Craddick finished first with 36 percent of the vote and is campaigning against Rep. Warren Chisum, R-Pampa for State Railroad Commissioner, in the seat vacated by Elizabeth Ames Jones.
Comal County Commissioner Parker finished second with 27 percent of the vote against Railroad Commissioner Barry Smitherman, who received 47 percent of the vote, after being appointed by Gov. Perry after the resignation of Michael Williams. They are running for a full term as Railroad Commissioner.
Former Houston District Judge Devine finished second to one-term incumbent Supreme Court Justice David Medina in the race for his seat. Devine received 32 percent of the vote compared to Devine’s 32 percent.
