Early voting begins April 30 for May 12 city, school board elections

ROCKWALL – Early voting for the general election for the cities and school boards in Rockwall County begins today and runs through May 8.

Election day is Saturday, May 12.

According to the Rockwall County Elections Office, those wishing to cast their vote during the early voting period may do so during the following dates and times at these locations:

Monday, April 30 through Saturday, May 5 – 8:00 am until 5 pm

Monday, May 7 and Tuesday, May 8 – 7:00 am until 7 pm

Bond propositions appearing on the Rockwall ballot relate to the following:

  • Improvements and additions to city parks, including recreational and sports facilities
  • Street and sidewalk improvements, parking lots, landscaping, pedestrian areas and related improvements in the historic downtown area
  • An economic development program to improve, preserve and revitalize the historic downtown area, including fire protection to preserve and encourage rehabilitation of buildings
  • City park improvements and facilities relating to the historic rock wall within the city and the acquisition of the property for such project

Voters aged 65 and older qualify for the “senior tax freeze.”  As such, potential passage of any bond related proposition will not affect this group of taxpayers.  Seniors may contact the Rockwall Central Appraisal District to ensure their information is current.
