Huge traffic jam expected this weekend due to Geo. Bush Tollway construction

ROCKWALL – Westbound traffic this weekend across Lake Ray Hubbard from Rockwall to Garland, Rowlett, Mesquite and Dallas will likely be another gigantic traffic jam as Texas Department of Transportation crews continue to install new George Bush Tollway bridge beams across I-30.

According to TXDOT, delays should be expected once more when the westbound lanes of I-30 are closed west of Zion Rd. beginning at 9 pm, Friday, Oct. 14, through 4 am, Monday, Oct. 17.

Delays are also expected on northbound FM-740 (Ridge Road) and northbound SH-205 (Goliad).

Traffic will be detoured to the westbound frontage road at Bass Pro Dr. and returned to I-30 west of Zion Road.

One month ago it took many drivers three hours or more to get to Rockwall from Dallas on I-30, when it normally takes 20-30 minutes.

The new George Bush Tollway is expected to be completed this December.
