Donations needed to help family pay funeral expenses for RCHS student killed in truck accident

ROYSE CITY – Donations are needed immediately to help the family of 16-year-old Royse City High School/Browning Academy student Anthony Robert Sanders to pay for funeral expenses.

Anthony was killed Wednesday night when the pick-up truck he was riding in crashed on Elm Grove Rd. near Circle Dr, south of Royse City, between I-30 and SH 548.

According to JoNell Mellody, Royse City High School’s Community Relations Director, the young man’s father died some years ago and his step-father is partially disabled. She said the $7,500 needed for the funeral services is sorely needed immediately.

“That’s why we set up the account at Texas Leadership Bank,” she said, “to help the family.”

Donations can be taken in or mailed to the Bank, located in Royse City at 121 W. I-30, in the name of Anthony Sanders. A bank representative said online donations are not possible at this time.

Mellody added that counselors have been brought in to the schools to help students to deal with grief. She said since this was his first year to attend school in Royse City, he wasn’t yet too well known.

According to his Rest Haven Funeral Home obituary, Anthony’s funeral service will be this Monday, at 11 am, at First Baptist Church of Royse City, located at 900 Pullen.

A visitation will be held this Sunday, 4-6 pm, at the Rest Haven – Royse City chapel, 141 W. Main St.

Anthony is survived by his mother and step-father, Judy & Terry Eckbreth, of Royse City;  and sisters:  Beth Sanders and Shea Goodson of Royse City; Betty Smith of Waxahachie; Cathy Patterson & husband Randy of Crosset, AR;  and Monica Litchfield of Petty, TX.
