Rockwall area girls volleyball teams win 10, lose 5 over weekend

ROCKWALL – Rockwall area girls volleyball teams won 10 matches and lost five over the weekend.

ROCKWALL-HEATH:

Previously undefeated Heath, now 9-1, lost its first match of the season Saturday to Rowlett, 2-1.

The Lady Hawks beat Garland, Skyline and South Grand Prairie, 2-0, and Mesquite Horn, 2-1, Friday at the Garland ISD tournament.

Saturday, before their loss to Rowlett, they defeated Longview Pine Tree, 2-1, and Garland Naaman Forest, 2-0.

Friday scores were 25-10 & 25-23 over Garland; 25-7 & 25-11 over Skyline; 25-16 & 25-9 over South Grand Prairie; and 25-20, 22-25 & 25-12 over Horn.

Saturday scores were 26-24, 19-25 & 25-23 over Longview Pine View; 25-14 & 25-23 over Naaman Forest: and 18-25 and 20-25 vs. Rowlett.

Next match is tomorrow at Heath vs. Mesquite Horn at 6:30 pm.

ROCKWALL:

The Lady Jackets beat South Garland, 2-0, but lost 2-1 to Cedar Hill and 2-0 to DeSoto Friday night at the Garland ISD Tournament.

Scores were 25-9 & 25-14; 17-25, 25-23 & 22-25 and 19-25 & 23-25, respectively.

Rockwall played last night but the score has not yet been received.

Their next game is Aug. 30 at Mesquite Horn @6:30 pm.

ROYSE CITY:

After the Lady Dawgs season-opening 3-2 win over Little Elm, they won two matches and lost one Thursday at the Carthage Tournament and then split two matches there Saturday.

Thursday they lost to Carthage, 16-25 & 22-25. Then they beat New London West Rusk, 25-16 & 25-10, plus Longview, 25-16, 22-25 & 25-11.

Saturday they defeated Tatum, 25-21, 24-26 & 25-14 but lost to White Oak, 21-25 & 16-25.

Next match is tomorrow at Denton Guyer at 5:30 pm.

ROWLETT:

After opening the season with a 3-1 loss to Allen, The Lady Eagles have won five matches in a row, 3-0, over Carrollton Newman Smith last Tuesday; 2-0 over Carter, North Mesquite and Mesquite Poteet Friday at the Garland ISD Tournament; and 2-0 over Rockwall-Heath Saturday at Garland.

Scores were 23-25, 21-25, 18-25 & 22-25 vs. Allen; and 25-15, 25-11 & 25-13 over Newman-Smith.

Friday’s scores were 25-4 & 25-3 over Carter; 25-16 & 25-5 over N. Mesquite; 25-16 twice over Poteet; and 25-18 & 25-20 over Heath.

Next match is tomorrow night vs. Wylie at Waxahachie at 7 pm.
