Rockwall teen builds bike trail bridge for Eagle Scout project

(By Darcy Rocha) ROCKWALL – Working towards achieving Eagle Scout ranking, Ian Hustings (left) of Rockwall Boy Scout Troop 690, stands beside his finished service project.

Over the past month he has planned and coordinated all aspects necessary to build a 30 ft. land bridge on the Squabble Creek Mountain Bike Trail in Rockwall. In addition to the work required to build the bridge, Ian raised funds for the supplies and organized the group of volunteers to help bring his vision to life. He wishes to thank the family and friends who donated to the project, the members of Troop 690 and the dads who volunteered, the trail stewards, Gerald Rowell, Christopher Wycough and The Dallas Off-Road Bicycling Association for their support in his work towards becoming an Eagle Scout.

Ian is a sophomore at Rockwall High School where he is in the French Club and plays the saxophone in the Rockwall High band. He is the son of Ross and Shawnna Hustings.
