New Freebirds Burritos to give away free food for year this Thursday

ROCKWALL – Freebirds World Burrito, known for offering “way more choices” to custom-built burritos, salads, nachos, tacos and more, will celebrate its Rockwall grand opening July 21 at 11 am by giving away free burritos for a year to the first 25 guests in line at its new location at 1067 E. I-30 (in the new shopping center across from Best Buy).

Today and tomorrow, Freebirds and its charitable arm, World Works, will partner with two local charities and conduct the following pre-opening events that are open to the public:

- Tuesday, July 19:  from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. and again at 5 p.m. – 7 p.m, the first 250 guests during each time slot will receive complimentary food and drinks in exchange for a $5 donation to Rockwall Helping Hands, dedicated to helping the needy.

- Wednesday, July 20:  from 11 a.m. -1 p.m, the first 250 guests will receive complimentary food and drinks in exchange for a $5 donation to Rockwall Habitat for Humanity, dedicated to building affordable housing for low-income families.

According to a Freebirds news release, the San Francisco based restaurant chain offers four possible flavors of tortillas, hand-rolled with a customer’s personal selection from more than 40 freshly prepared ingredients, including grass-fed beef, hormone-free chicken, or all natural pork carnitas, topped with hand-cut veggies and hot peppers, plus house made salsas, queso and guacamole.

Burritos range in size from the generously-sized Hybird starting at $4.69 to the legendary Super Monster which can weigh-in at seven pounds.

“Each Freebirds restaurant features the concept’s signature Statue of Liberty – affectionately known as ‘Libby’ – riding a custom-built motorcycle breaking through the Freedom Wall. Libby was designed to serve as a reminder that each of us can break through walls and truly change the world. The restaurant has a free-spirited ambience with a rockin’ soundtrack, reminiscent of a late-’60s rock ‘n’ roll roadhouse.”

Restaurant veteran and Rockwall resident Tim Robinson will manage the new restaurant, which will employ approximately 75 team members from the local community.

Hours are Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. – 10:30 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. – 9 p.m.

Freebirds offers online ordering and full service catering. For info, call (214) 771-4448 or to place an online order, visit www.freebirds.com.
