Portion of Rowlett Rd. to close June 21-28 for DART rail construction

ROWLETT – Drivers beware, Rowlett Rd. will be shut down most of this week and next for DART Blue Line rail construction, between essentially Lakeview Pkwy/US Highway 66 and Miller Rd.

The main thoroughfare will be closed from 8 pm, June 21 (Tuesday) through 5 am, June 29 (Wednesday), from Miller Rd. to Main St.

According to DART officials, construction crews will work 24 hours a day until the work is finished. The closure will be necessary because it’s not possible to complete the project in stages.

DART and Rowlett officials recommend that motorists quickly find alternative routes, which include Centerville Rd. and the access roads for the President George Bush Turnpike, both directions of which are now open from Merritt Road to Miller Road.

Austin Bridge & Road has set up a hotline to address all questions about this project. Contact them at 972-651-0414. Additionally, you may contact DART Community Affairs at 214-749-2598.
