Journey tribute band Escape to perform free lakeside concert this Thursday

ROCKWALL -The Dallas-based “Journey” super-group tribute band known as ‘Escape” will be playing at this year’s free, end-of-school-bash, “Concert By The Lake,” this Thursday night at The Harbor Amphitheater, from 7:30 until 9 pm.

Since 2006, Escape has been performing across the DFW Metroplex and beyond to packed venues where the crowds love to sing along and dance to the timeless music of Journey, both old and new.

The concerts are held every Thursday evening for the whole family from 7:30-9 pm through August 18, featuring country, rock, classic rock, zydeco, blues, pop and variety bands, according to the Rockwall Parks & Recreation Department which hosts the events.

Local event sponsors are Rockwall Ford, Rockwall Dodge, Dodie’s Cajun Restaurant, Gloria’s Restaurant, AAA Texas, Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital and Coldwell Banker Realtors.

Popular acts from previous years to come include Blaze of Glory (Bon Jovi Trubute), The Pictures (Variety), Hanna’s Reef (Jimmy Buffet Tribute) and Professor D (Variety).

Concert-goers should bring lawn chairs and blankets to sit on and are welcome to bring food and drinks, but they are also asked to clean up afterwards, said Parks Department Director Brad Griggs.

Since the City started the lakeside concerts, attendance has grown and grown. An average of 4,000 people attended each concert last year, coming from all over Texas to enjoy the events.
