Airport Road 4-lane road reconstruction begins today

ROCKWALL – Airport Road is about to be improved from a bumpy, asphalt, two-lane roadway to a smooth four-lane concrete street from John King Blvd. to FM 3549.

According to a news release from the City of Rockwall, the reconstruction project is scheduled to begin by May 31.

Construction is scheduled to be completed within approximately one year.

The new undivided street will have a curb and gutter and an enclosed storm
sewer system. Along with the paving and drainage improvements, the City will extend a new water line to FM-3549, including additional fire hydrants.

The project will also include improving Amity Lane and Indian Trail, replacing the existing asphalt roads with new concrete roadways.

During construction, traffic may at times become one-way, with signage and
flagmen. Access to homeowners’ property will be provided during the construction.
