Heath, Rockwall track stars bring home gold, silver, bronze medals from State meet

AUSTIN – Heath and Rockwall track stars brought home gold, silver and bronze medals from last weekend’s State UIL track meet at the University of Texas.

Heath’s Brianna Richardson won the gold medal in girls triple jump with a hop, step and jump of 40-2, after finishing second last year. McKinney North’s Aundrea Gamble finished second at 39-5.

Richardson also soared 18-8-1/4 to claim a silver medal and second place in the girls long jump, just behind Richmond Foster’s Tiana Dockery who leaped 18-10-3/4.

Last year’s defending State boys high jump champion, Jonathan Fuller (shown above) of Heath , had to settle for second place this year after clearing 6-8 on his first jump. Canyon Randall’s Logan Brittain cleared 7-0 to win the gold.

Rockwall’s Alicia Janke claimed her second state bronze medal in the girls pole vault by clearing 12-0 even, after also finishing third in 2009. Annie Rhodes of Waco Midway won the gold over Ashley Thompson of Frisco with fewer attempts at the winning height of 12-06.

The Lancaster boys team won their fourth straight Class 4A championship with 54 points.

Beaumont Ozen defeated Arlington Seguin, 60-50, for the girls Class 4A title.
