Heath baseball playoff rained out, will play one or two games today

HEATH – After Heath’s Region II-4A regional quarterfinals baseball game was rained out last night, the Hawks will try to even their best-of-three game playoff series with Hillcrest today at 1 pm at Sunnyvale High School.

They lost their first game against Dallas Hillcrest Wednesday, 3-1.

If Heath wins the first game, then the third and deciding game will be played shortly after at Sunnyvale.

Overcast skies are predicted, with a 30 percent chance of rain and isolated thunderstorms this afternoon and 40 percent chance tonight.

The normally potent Heath bats were limited to just three hits by Hillcrest pitchers in the first game. Losing pitcher Jake Thompson also pitched a three-hitter but an error and poor throw allowed two runs.

Starting on the mound today will be either Thompson or Jovan Hernandez, both of whom have been among the top pitchers in the region all season long.
