Heath baseball team seeks to even playoff series tonight

HEATH – Heath’s District 10-4A co-champion baseball team will try to even their Region II-4A regional quarterfinals best-of-three game playoff series with Hillcrest tonight at the Hawks’ baseball field at 7:30 pm, after losing their first game against Dallas Hillcrest Wednesday, 3-1.

The normally potent Heath bats were limited to just three hits by Hillcrest pitchers in the first game. Losing pitcher Jake Thompson also pitched a three-hitter but an error and poor throw allowed two runs.

Starting on the mound tonight will be either Thompson or Jovan Hernandez, both of whom have been among the top pitchers in the region all season long.

If Heath wins, the final game of the series will be played tomorrow at 1 pm at Sunnyvale High School.
