Four current Rockwall Council members endorse David Sweet for Mayor

ROCKWALL – As the campaign for Mayor of Rockwall between two-term City Council members David Sweet and Glen Farris draws to a close this Saturday, four members of the current City Council are endorsing Sweet as the best man to replace Mayor Bill Cecil who has reached his term limit.

Mayor Cecil confirmed his support for Sweet in writing, telling TheRockwall, “I believe David Sweet is best suited to lead the city forward.”

Two-term Council member Mark Russo said that Sweet is his choice because he is so dependable.

“David Sweet has shown the he is someone that voters and other Council members can count on because he has not missed a single Council meeting during the past four years since he was elected.”

Cliff Sevier said Sweet is the right person for the job because of his beliefs and ideals.

“David Sweet is the right person for Rockwall’s Mayor,” he stated. “He will take Rockwall into the future with his beliefs and ideals. He is the only candidate qualified to do this. Everyone that has not voted yet needs to look at the voting record that David has for the people and businesses of Rockwall. That is why I voted for David.”

Outgoing Councilman Matt Scott added that he also supports Sweet.

The only remaining current Council member, besides mayoral candidates Sweet and Glen Farris, is Margo Nielsen, who said recently that she is not endorsing either candidate and will work with whomever wins.

Election day is Saturday May 14. Registered voters may cast their ballots between 7 am and 7 pm at various locations across Rockwall County.

Agree with those four councilmembers. David Sweet stands head and shoulders above his opponents in terms of qualification, preparedness, and understanding of what lies ahead. As I have from the beginning, I fully support David Sweet for Mayor of Rockwall.
