Rockwall Planning, Zoning Committee VP, design firm principal Connie Jackson running for Council

ROCKWALL – For the past ten years, international interior architectural design firm principal Connie Jackson has voluntarily served on the Rockwall Planning & Zoning Committee.

Now she wants to put her extensive city and business experience to further use and is running for City Council Place 5 in the May 14 city and school board elections.

The seat has been occupied since 2005 by Matt Scott, who has reached his limit of three two-year terms.

Her two opponents are national Christian women’s group area director Michelle Smith and construction company vice president Dennis Lewis.

If elected, Jackson said she will continue to do what she has always done: listen carefully to city residents and help them with their various needs.

Currently the Vice Chairman of the P&Z Committee, she has also served on the City’s Oversight and Downtown Planning Committees.

A resident of Rockwall for 13 years, she is married to freelance court reporter David Jackson, a partner in Dallas for United American Reporting Services. They have one son, who is married.

A 1979 graduate of TCU, she is the lead designer for international interior architectural design firm Wilson Associates, which has designed such hotels worldwide as the Gaylord Texan, Grand Hyatt DFW, EuroDisney, plus auto dealerships for Sewell Automotive.

She also serves as the Vice President of the firm’s non-profit organization, Wilson Foundation. She says her passion is “giving back” to both her profession and city. She has been feeding the homeless each week for the past seven years at The Bridge in downtown Dallas.

Her professional affiliations include membership in the American Society of Interior Design, where she served several terms as a State Board Director. She was on the Design Advisory Board for B.F. Goodrich Company, and has been on the Design Advisory Board for Texas Christian University since 1991. She also is a Visiting Professor for both the University of Texas in Austin and Texas Christian University.
