Holcomb pitches two-hitter, Rockwall wins softball Bi-District playoff

PLANO – Laycee Holcomb pitched a two-hit shutout, had two hits and 2 RBIs leading a 15-hit Lady Jackets attack as Rockwall blasted Carrollton Newman Smith, 12-0, last night in a one-game Bi-District playoff at Plano West.

Holcomb, now 18-3, has an ERA of 1.50, with 89 strike-outs in 130 innings. She’s also the Area’s 13th leading hitter with a .478 average in 92 at-bats.

Leading Rockwall hitters Cyndi Bertrand (fifth at .558) and Carlie Jenkins (ninth at .500) each doubled.

Kennedy Harrison went 3-for-3, including a double, plus scored three runs. Ashton Atwell, Audrey Farfan and Taylor Lemons drove in two runs apiece.

The Lady Jackets will next play Seagoville, the third-place team from District 11-4A, which won its Bi-District playoff over Dallas Bryan Adams 16-1 last night.

The schedule, location and format has not been determined for the Seagoville game.
