Heath beats Highland Park, ties for District baseball lead

HEATH – Rockwall-Heath rallied for five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning last night and defeated Highland Park, 6-4, moving into a tie with the Scots for first place in District 10-4A.

Winning pitcher Jake Thompson pitched a complete game and held the Scots to just six hits.  Bret Boswell, Jovan Hernandez and Nick Petersen each doubled for the Hawks.

Each team has one game left in District 10-4A action and are assured of making the play-offs.

Heath (26-5-1) plays at Wylie East, 4-8 in District play – including a victory over the Scots – April 29, 4:30 pm.

Highland Park (27-4, 11-2)  plays at home April 29 vs. third-place McKinney, 8-4 in District play, at 7:30 pm.

If Heath wins and the Scots lose, the Hawks will become District Champions for the second year in a row. Last year they were undefeated.
