Rockwall ISD Board candidate debate coming April 19

ROCKWALL – A debate between Rockwall ISD’s three Board of Trustees candidates, incumbent Dr. Stan Lowrance (left), Stephanie Adams and Randy Oakes will be hosted by The Rockwall News, Tuesday, April 19, from 7-8 pm, at the Rockwall High School cafeteria.

It will be held just before the Rockwall mayoral candidate debate, which begins at 8 pm.

Dentist Lowrance has served as a Board member since 2004. Local realtor Adams and technical project manager Oakes are running for their first time.

The format will allow each candidate to make opening and closing remarks, plus answer three pre-selected questions provided to the candidates ahead of time.  A fourth question will also be asked, requiring an on-the-spot response from each candidate to the same question which they will not be given ahead of time.

Norma Valles, managing partner of Rockwall’s new El Cayote Rojo “Tex-Mex” restaurant in Old Town Rockwall, will sing two patriotic songs to help start the event. She has sung the national anthem at Dallas Mavericks games, numerous other events, plus produced several CDs to raise funds for U.S. troops.

After the RISD Board candidate debate, Rockwall mayoral candidates Sam Buffington, Glen Farris and David Sweet will debate the issues from 8-9 pm.

Election day is Saturday, May 14. Early voting runs from May 2-10.
