Rockwall Christian hoops player voted TAPPS 1st Team All-State

Rockwall Christian Academy senior forward Grant Jensen was recently voted one of 12 players from Texas to be named to the TAPPS Private School 2A 1st Team All-State basketball roster.

He is the only DFW area player from their division to receive the honor.

During the 2011 season, Grant averaged 20.3 points and 11.5 rebounds per game, enabling Grant to be ranked fourth in the State in both points and rebounds per game for his division.

Originally from Fresno CA,  he attributes his success to the great coaching he received growing up in there, as well as to Ryan Hankins, Rockwall Christian’s head coach.

He attributes his greatest basketball skill growth from personal workouts with Colin Slater Sr., a coach from New Orleans who went to Fresno after being displaced by Hurricane Katrina. Coach Slater took Grant “under his wing” and had him workout with Colin Slater Jr., rated one of the best guards in the country.

Jensen is now invited to an All-Star game this summer in San Antonio.
