5 new, 3 re-elected Rockwall County officials sworn in Jan. 1

Five new and three re-elected Rockwall County officials were sworn in Jan. 1 in front of a packed courtroom of 200 people at the Historic County Courthouse on the Square in Rockwall.

Congressman Ralph Hall (R-Rockwall) performed the ceremonies for new County Judge Jerry Hogan, County Clerk Shelli Miller and County Treasurer David Peek.

He also swore in re-elected County Commissioners Lori Grinnan and David Magness.

Hall’s son, 382nd District Court Judge Brett Hall, performed the ceremonies for new Justice of the Peace Precincts 1&4 Jack James and Justice of the Peace Precincts 2&3 Nancy Beaty.

He then swore in re-elected District Clerk Kay McDaniel.

Rep. Hall then performed the swearing in of Fifth District Court of Appeals Chief Justice Carolyn Wright, who lives in Heath and was recently appointed by Texas Gov. Rick Perry.

Judge Wright then thanked the audience and swore in new Fifth Court of Appeals Justice Lana Myers from Tarrant County and re-elected Fifth Court of Appeals Justice Bob Fillmore from Collin County.
