Dozens of deer euthanized in Hunt County

(WFAA-TV News Video) HUNT COUNTY — A herd of more than 70 deer in Hunt County were euthanized by Texas officials Monday over concerns the animals could be infected with a contagious, fatal disease.

Carcasses were dumped into a large pit; their heads were removed for disease testing.

A dozen Texas game wardens rolled onto the Anderton Family Farm Monday morning facing a grim task. Trained to protect wildlife, they were there to shoot the captive deer confined inside holding pens.
