Hannah Montana co-star, former Rockwall resident Mitchel Musso appearing in concert Saturday

By J.J. Smith. The co-star of the Disney Channel’s Hannah Montana TV show, recording star and former area resident Mitchel Musso will appear live in a hometown concert at Rockwall-Heath High School Saturday, Dec. 4, at 7 pm.

Tickets are still available for purchase online or before the performance at the school.

He will also be autographing his new “Brainstorm” CDs, currently being sold at the Rockwall Walmart Supercenter, this Friday, from 5-7 pm, and at the Rowlett Walmart, Saturday, from 10 am – Noon.

One of the most popular actors and musicians of the new generation, he has shared the stage with some of today’s biggest names, including Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez.

He can currently be seen co-starring with Cyrus in the fourth season of the  Emmy nominated series, “Hannah Montana” as Oliver Oken.

He can also be heard in the Disney Channel’s hit animated series “Phineas & Ferb,” which was nominated for an Emmy.

Musso previously starred in the Oscar-nominated feature film, “Monster House,” executive produced by Steven Spielberg.

He is now starring in Disney XD’s newest series, “Pair of Kings,” and is touring with brand new songs, as well as favorites from his debut album.

In other works, he provided his voice of DJ for the computer animated/motion capture film, Monster House and also starred as Raymond Figg in the Disney Channel Original Movie, Life is Ruff, released in 2005.

Musso’s self-titled debut album was released on June 2, 2009. The album debuted at number 19 on the Billboard 200.

His first single “Hey” off the album shot to #8 on the iTunes Pop chart and, to date, over 225,000 digital singles have been downloaded.  ”Hey” was one of his six singles  to hit the Top 10 on Radio Disney’s Top 30 chart.  Thus far, Musso has sold over 450,000 digital downloads off his debut album and he currently has over 3 million song plays on MySpace.

The son of area residents Katherine and Samuel Russo, the teen star was born in Garland and lived for several years in Rockwall. He now resides in Los Angeles.

In 2004, Musso made his Hollywood film debut in Secondhand Lions, alongside his brother Marc.

Proceeds from the concert will benefit Rockwall’s Dance Force competition teams which are going to Disney World in Florida in March.
