Former Heath star Kendial Lawrence scores TD as Missouri blasts Kansas

Former Heath High School football star running back Kendial Lawrence scored his fourth touchdown of the year on a 31-yard run for the University of Missouri last Saturday as the 15th ranked Tigers won their tenth and final regular season game of the year at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, blasting rival Kansas, 35-7.

Lawrence was the Tigers’ leading rusher in the game, carrying the ball 10 times for 76 yards. He also caught one pass for 24 yards. His TD came near the beginning of the second quarter, capping a four-play, 59-yard drive, making the score 21-0.

For the year, sophomore Lawrence was the Tigers third leading rusher in their three tailback system. He carried the ball 67 times for a net total of 382 yards – including one 71-yard run – for an impressive 5.7 yard average.

Junior De’Vion Moore and freshman Henry Josey had slightly more yardage for the season. Moore carried 93 times for 485 yards (5.2 avg.) and Josey 74 times for 425 yards (5.7 avg.).

With only two losses, Missouri is now expected to play in a top bowl game, which will be announced by Dec. 5.
