9-year-old Rockwall youth football player dies mysteriously in his sleep

(Rockwall/Rowlett/Heath Neighbors Go) – Six days after celebrating his Rockwall youth football team’s Dallas Select League Super Bowl championship with his father, 9-year-old Michael Robinson, who was known for protecting his brothers and teammates alike, was dead.

The game for the 1A title in Frisco with his Rockwall Youth Sports Association team, it turned out, was the last time Michael would physically step onto the field.

But the Balch Springs third-grader was still there in spirit Nov. 20 when Michael’s Rockwall Jackets, including his father, assistant coach Todd Robinson of Dallas, paid tribute to Michael before their game against the DeSoto Cowboys in Meadowcreek Park in DeSoto.
