Rockwall wrestlers win team championship at Euless Trinity Duals

By J.J. Smith. Rockwall High School’s varsity wrestling team opened their season by sweeping all five matches by at least 28 points to win the team championship at the Euless Trinity Duals last Saturday.

The Yellowjackets overpowered McKinney Boyd 63-12, Argyle Liberty Christian 60-30, Flower Mound Marcus 54-25, Euless Trinity 56-28 and Arlington Sam Houston 63-14.

Rockwall’s Dylan Devereaux won all five of his matches with pins at 171 pounds.  Wrestlers Cody Jonas (119), Josh Holloway (135), Grant Baker (152) and Robert Hinton (285) won all five of their matches with no losses, as well.

Winning four of five matches were Nick Hyde (125), Zach Guzzardo (130), Tyler Wells (140) and Collin Hill (215).

Their next matches are today at 6 pm at Dallas Jesuit and Dec. 2 at Frisco Centennial at 6 pm.

The season continues through Feb. 5, when the District Tournament takes place at Heath High.
