Rowlett holds on to beat Jesuit in Bi-District playoff, 35-28

Rowlett’s Treyvon Green rushed for 147 yards and two touchdowns, quarterback Colton Kalmus threw three TD passes and Logan Brown caught 12 passes as the Eagles scored early and then hung on to defeat Dallas Jesuit 35-28 in a hard-fought Region II Class 5A Bi-District playoff game Saturday evening at SMU’s Ford Stadium.

After both teams scored twice, Rowlett (9-2) reeled off three straight touchdowns with their balanced offensive attack to take a third-quarter 35-14 lead.

Northwestern University commit Green carried the ball 29 times, Kalmus completed 20-25 passes for 322 yards and Brown gained 198 yards and two touchdowns with his catches.

Still Jesuit (6-5) made a game of it, scoring twice in the fourth quarter while holding Rowlett scoreless.

After Jesuit scored on a Jake Oliver 12-yard catch with 0:57 left in the game, Jesuit successfully recovered on an outside kick but was flagged for an illegal block on the same play. On the ensuing kickoff, Rowlett recovered the second onside kick and ran out the clock.

Rowlett will play Mesquite Horn (7-4) – which beat Copperas Cove 48-14 – next Friday night at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington at 9 pm.
