Royse City to face Whitehouse in football playoff Friday

By J.J. Smith. Winning two of their last three games, the Royse City Bulldogs (3-7, 3-3) will face Whitehouse (8-2) in a Bi-District Playoff football game Friday night at Lindale High School, east of Canton on I-20, beginning at 7:30 pm.

Despite losing more games than they won this season, the Bulldogs were able to finish in fourth place during their first year in District 13-4A behind Sherman, Sulphur Springs and Texarkana but beating out Dennison, Mt. Pleasant and Greenville.

The Bulldogs attack is led by the passing of quarterback Taylor Corbin (154-269 for 2,191 yds, 13 TDs/21 INTs) and running of Jonathan Burns (112 carries, 844 yards, 17 TDs/102 pts).

Whitehouse comes in having won five of their last six games. Their only loss during that span was against Sulphur Springs, 40-39, which overpowered Royse City last Friday, 56-22.
