Former Hawk Kendial Lawrence scores TD, Missou blasts Aggies, 30-9

By J.J. Smith. Former Heath High School star running back Kendial (“Showtime”) Lawrence scored one touchdown on a two-yard run to help his undefeated Missouri Tigers team (6-0) blast the Texas A&M Aggies (3-3) Saturday, 30-9.

Lawrence carried the ball 11 times for 44 yards, including a long gain of 15 yards.

This season the 5’9″, 190 lb. sophomore is splitting time at tailback with two other Tigers in Missouri’s high-powered offense – freshman Henry Josey and junior De’Vion Moore.

Lawrence has rushed for 165 yards on 33 carries for a 5.0 yard average and two touchdowns. His long run was for a 39-yard TD against Miami of Ohio Sept. 25 in the Tigers’ 51-13 victory.

Josey currently leads the running backs with 255 yards on 36 carries for a 7.1 yard average, including one 62-yard TD run. He has scored four TDs.

Moore has rushed for 200 yards on 40 carries, a 5.0 average, and three TDs.

Lawrence has also caught one three-yard pass.

Missouri is largely a passing team, led by quarterback Blaine Gabbert, who has thrown for 1,591 yards and 10 TDs this season.

“I don’t know how many superstars we have, but we have a lot of good players, I guarantee you that, Missouri coach Gary Pinkel said. “When we play well as a football team we’re pretty good,” said Pinkel, after beating the Aggies.

Lawrence is the son of Kendrick and Hortencia Lawrence.

He chose Mizzouri over Arizona, Kansas, Southern Mississippi, Louisville, Mississippi State, Houston, SMU and Iowa State, among many other schools, according to the Missouri Athletics website.
