Bank of America to hire over 1,000 bankers soon

By J.J. Smith. Good news for job hunters! Bank of America plans to hire more than 1,000 small business bankers by early next year, with initial hiring expected to begin in the next few months in Dallas and three other cities.

As the nation’s largest bank by assets, Bank of America aims to develop relationships with more small business and offer services including loans, payroll, cash management and wealth management, said Kerrie Campbell, the bank’s small business segment executive based in Dallas.

“This is a significant expansion of our capabilities for small business.”

The three other three cities which will be hiring soon are Baltimore, Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C., with additional hiring throughout the country in 2011. The small business bankers will focus on companies with annual sales between $250,000 and $3 million.

Bank of America President and Chief Executive Brian Moynihan explained it provided $45.4 billion in credit to small and medium-sized businesses in the first half of this year, and pledged to increase lending to such companies by $5 billion this year.

“It’s a goal we’re on pace to blow away,” he said.

“The steps we’re taking at Bank of America will help create more certainty, more confidence and more opportunity for small businesses in all the markets we serve,” he added in a Thursday speech in Boston.
