Rowlett to host first Volunteer Fair

By J.J. Smith. The City of Rowlett is hosting its first Volunteer Fair this Monday from 7-8:30 pm at the Rowlett Community Centre on Main Street.

City officials say they hope that residents will attend, learn more about
volunteer opportunities and decide to serve on boards, commissions and with non-profit organizations.

Volunteers are needed in the areas of public safety, library services, animal services, city hall, parks and recreation, municipal court and special events.

Boards and commissions which will be represented include the Planning and Zoning Commission, the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board, the Arts and Humanities Commission, the Traffic and Safety Advisory Commission, the Library Advisory Board, the Senior Advisory Board, the Board of Adjustment, the Animal Shelter Advisory Board, the Economic Development Advisory Board, the Tax-Increment Financing District Advisory Board and the Golf Advisory Board.

Other volunteer organizations will include Keep Rowlett Beautiful, the Community Emergency Response Team, Volunteers in Police Services, Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service, Friends of Rowlett Animals, Friends of the Rowlett Library, Senior Citizens of Rowlett and Crime Watch.
