Kroger food store issues bomb threat statement

By J.J. Smith. Kroger Food Stores issued an official statement Wednesday regarding the bomb threat and subsequent evacuation which occurred at the Rockwall Kroger store June 7.

After the store was evacuated for several hours and no bomb was found by Rockwall police, the store reopened for business as usual Monday afternoon.

The following statement was released by Rebecca King, consumer affairs manager for Kroger:

“Earlier this week our Rockwall store received threatening phone calls. As a result of these threats our management team followed proper safety protocol and called the authorities.

After evacuation and complete search of the premises by local authorities, the property was deemed safe since no hazardous materials were found. No injuries were reported.

Kroger takes the safety of our customers and associates very seriously. Our staff is diligently working with the authorities regarding the investigation and to bring the suspects to justice.”
