Mother-son duo earn diplomas at age 67, 41

By Dawn Redig, With the help of the Reading for Adults GED program at the Rockwall County Library, Steven Stovall, 41, successfully completed a challenge that he gave a nephew two years ago when the teen wanted to drop out of high school.

If the nephew agreed to stay in school, Steven would study to get his GED.

Nelda Robinson, Steven’s mother, 67, learned about challenge. She, too, longed to get her high school diploma, so she told her son that she would go with him to the GED program at the library.

Both mother and son achieved their goal, and on May 28, they walked across the Rockwall ISD Performing Arts Center stage together to receive their diplomas.
