Rockwall-Heath shuts out Kimball in first best-of-3 baseball playoff, 9-0

By J.J. Smith. Jovan Hernandez pitched and hit the nation’s top-ranked, undefeated Rockwall-Heath baseball team – according to USA TODAY – to a 9-0 shut out of Dallas Kimball (17-11) last night in the first game of the best-of-3 series.

The sophomore struck out eight and allowed just one hit in six innings. One of the leading hitters in the state, batting over .500 for the season, he also went 3-3 at the plate.

Trevor Holland and Tyler Harding hit solo home runs for the Hawks (35-0).

The second game of the series will be tonight at Heath beginning at 7 pm.
