Heath, Rockwall win Friday baseball playoff games

By J.J. Smith. Behind the pitching and hitting of Jake Thompson, top-ranked and still undefeated Rockwall-Heath won its 34th game in a row last night over Frisco Centennial, 4-1, to sweep their best of three Bi-District series.

The Hawks flew past Centennial (22-13) Thursday night in Frisco, 10-1.

Thompson won his eighth game without a loss, giving up only four hits. He also hit a home run.

Drew Benefield also homered.

Rockwall’s Yellow Jackets stayed alive in the playoffs squeezing by McKinney 2-1 in their best-of-three series thanks to Wesley Cox’s one-hitter.

No other details are currently available.

McKinney blasted Rockwall in their first game Thursday night, 10-0. They will play their third and deciding game this afternoon, for the right to advance in the playoffs.
