Estimated 5,000 people attend first Rockwall lakeside concert

An estimated 5,000 people jammed into the The Harbor entertainment district last night to enjoy the sights and sounds of progressive Honky Tonk band “The King Bucks” at the City of Rockwall’s first free weekly Thursday night concert of their highly-popular “Concert by the Lake” series.

Arranged by the City’s Parks & Recreation Dept. and sponsored by Rockwall Ford/Dodge, Community Bank, Presbyterian Hospital, plus Gloria’s and Dodie’s restaurants, the free concerts will continue every week through Aug. 19, beginning at 7:30 pm.

According to a city spokesman, the concerts have become so popular that people from across the Metroplex and Texas area now attending concerts and making plans to attend future events.

The only problem which continues is limited parking. All lots at The Harbor were completely full last night, with hundreds more cars parking on city streets blocks away from the event. Several vehicles could be seen being towed away by tow trucks, as well.

At least two dozen boats were also lined up in the lake near the boat docks where boaters could hear the music.

Simulating The Beatles, the “Me & My Monkey” band will perform May 13 and Random Axis will play May 20.
