Undefeated Rockwall-Heath baseball named no. 1 team in nation by USA Today

By J. J. Smith. The undefeated Rockwall-Heath baseball team (32-0, 14-0) was named the no. 1 high school team in the nation by the USA TODAY newspaper April 14, based upon their 7-0 and 14-0 victories over Royse City and Richardson Pearce, respectively.

Since the rankings were released, Heath won its 32 game in a row last Friday by blasting Highland Park, 6-1, to win the District 10-4A championship.

The Hawks are the only undefeated team in the top ten of the Super 25 rankings. They are followed by Walsh Jesuit, Cuyahoga Fallas, Ohio (14-0); Sumrall, Mississippi (27-1); and Pace, Florida (22-2).

Next game for the Hawks will be May 6 in bi-district playoff action vs Frisco Centennial at 7:30 pm in Frisco.
