First Concert by the Lake at The Harbor Thursday night

By J.J. Smith. The first free Thursday night Concert by the Lake at The Harbor amphitheater will begin tomorrow night at 7 pm featuring music by the “progressive honky tonk” bank, The King Bucks.

In 2009 The King Bucks won the Dallas Morning News “Quick” award for best live act, as well as The Dallas Observer’s music award for best country/roots act.

According to their website, their music “forges a unique alliance between traditional country, boogie, rockabilly and soul.”

This will be their first appearance at the weekly entertainment series, arranged by the City of Rockwall’s Parks and Recreation Department and sponsored this year by Rockwall Ford, Rockwall Dodge, Dodie’s Seafood and Gloria’s Restaurants at The Harbor, plus Community Bank and Presbyterian Hospital.

Last year’s events drew an average of about 5,000 people. Even larger crowds are expected this year as more and more people learn about the free music events on the shores of Lake Ray Hubbard.

Seating is limited on a first come, first-served basis. Concert-goers are invited to bring lawn chairs and blankets to sit on, plus food and beverages.

Beatles’ cover band Me & My Monkey will return to perform May 13 and Random Axis will play again May 20.
