Rockwall-Heath blasts Highland Park, 6-1, wins District

Behind the pitching of Jake Thompson and hitting of Trevor Holland, the state’s top-ranked Class 4A team, undefeated Rockwall-Heath (32-0, 14-0), blasted the Area’s fourth-ranked team, Highland Park, 6-1, last night in the District 10-4A championship game at Heath.

Thompson earned the win by allowing only two hits in 5 1/3 innings. He struck out seven and also hit a double.

Holland went 3-for-3, scored two runs and drove in a run.

After scoring one run in the first inning, the Hawks took control by scoring four runs with two outs in the second.

It was just the second district loss for the Scots (24-8, 12-2), the Area’s fourth-ranked Class 4A team, which committed four errors and had only three hits.

Rockwall-Heath will next move on to playoff action.
