Aspasians Arts & Crafts Fair this Saturday

By J.J. Smith. For over 30 years the semi-annual Aspasians Arts & Crafts Fair has been held in Rockwall on Saturdays in April and September, bringing together hundreds of artisans selling their artwork, jewelry, clothing, purses, hats, sunglasses, antiques, gifts, foods and much more.

The first Aspasians Fair of 2010 begins tomorrow at 9 am and lasts until 5 pm (rain permitting) on the Court House Square in Old Town Rockwall.

According to event organizers, the Fair is held primarily to raise scholarship money for motivated Rockwall County high school seniors who want to attend college but can’t afford it. The group also donates to worthwhile causes including Rainbow Room, Angel League and soldiers in Iraq.

The event traditionally begins with a $5 pancake breakfast sponsored by the Rockwall Kiwanis Club and featuring Congressman Ralph Hall as a chef.
