Rockwall third-fastest growing County in US

By J.J. Smith. Rockwall County TX was the third fastest growing county in the U.S. between 2000 and 2009.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the County experienced an 88.9 percent increase – from 43,079 in 2000 to 81,391 in 2009.

Kendall County, Illinois, was the nation’s fastest-growing county with a 92.1 percent increase. Runner-up was Pinal County, Arizona, with an 89.7 percent increase.

Among local counties, Collin County was 13th with a 61 percent increase. Denton County was 27th with a 52.1 percent increase. Kaufman Country was 40th with a 44.5 percent increase.

Also announced:  the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area has added more new residents than any other metro area in the nation, attracting almost 147,000 people between July, 2008, and June, 2009. The Houston metro area ranked second with 141,000 new residents.
