Heart of Heath 5K Run draws 329 runners

By J.J. Smith. The “Heart of Heath 5K Run/Walk” presented by the City of Heath Special Events Board April 3rd to raise funds for the trails system that will connect public areas, parks and neighborhoods in Heath attracted a record-setting 329 runners.

Final totals of funds raised will not be available until final expenditures are  determined, according to Assistant City Manager Kim Dobbs, but City leaders said they were pleased with the turnout and support.

“The City of Heath appreciates the generous support of the sponsors and prize donors, and thanks the many volunteers and staff for their hard work to make this tradition a fun and safe time for all,” said Heath Mayor John Ratcliffe.

“It is very rewarding to see the event grow as people of all ages in our community take advantage of this opportunity to enjoy exercise and fellowship together,” said Special Events Board chairman Joel Palin.
